It has been a long journey, with Svevind steadfast at the helm, towards realising the largest onshore wind power project in Europe and one of the largest-ever industrial projects. The wind farm will consist of 63 turbines provided by Enercon, from its new E-138 EP3 series. Enercon will further provide comprehensive operation and management services. When fully operational, the wind farm will generate enough power to provide more than 66 000 Swedish households with electricity. The wind park comprises altogether 179 wind turbines, and it will be the largest single onshore wind park in Europe with a combined capacity of 750 MW. The development plans of the Markbygden area may eventually lead up to the largest collection of wind farms in Europe, with altogether 1,101 operational wind … • Once the wind farm has been approved, Svevind AB or the relevant subsidiary may sell all or part of the project, or retain it for its own construction and operation.

GE Energy Financial Services and GIG both acquired 50% stakes in the project from the Swedish firm in 2016, with each contributing EUR 300m equity. The Markbygden Wind Farm will be a series of interconnected wind farms in the Markbygden area west of Piteå, Norrbotten county in northern Sweden.The project is expected to be completed by 2022 and might have a capacity of up to 4,000 megawatts (MW), comprising up to 1,101 wind turbines. NCC has been commissioned to conduct extensive infrastructure work for the Markbygden Ett wind farm in Piteå. The contract value is approximately SEK 800 million.
